A good hill station trip for a Kerala group should be comfortable, should have a sensible pace, and should have enough time to actually enjoy the places. That makes Kodaikanal and Cumbum such a good combination for travellers from Kerala. It’s cool enough for all generations, from old timers to kids, so that everyone in the group actually has a good time.
Kodaikanal gives you cool mountain weather, misty viewpoints, lakes, forests, and familiar hill-station attractions. Cumbum adds green valleys, plantations, farms, and the scenic Western Ghats around it. It comes with a working grape farm you can walk through and taste from.
Together, they give a group more variety without requiring an elaborate itinerary.
For families, friends, corporate teams, and other groups, this combination also offers good value. Accommodation, transport, meals, and sightseeing can be planned together, making it easier to control the overall trip cost. You can also choose the vehicle and accommodation according to your group size and budget.
At My Travel Club, we plan customized group tours from Kerala rather than forcing every group into the same itinerary. Whether you are travelling with a small family or a larger team, we can help you plan a Kodaikanal and Cumbum trip around your dates, budget, and preferences.
Why Kodaikanal and Cumbum Work So Well Together
Kodaikanal is one of the top hill-station choices for a Kerala group looking for cool weather and plenty of sightseeing options. Kodai Lake is the easy first stop – rent a boat, walk the shore road, and let the kids run off some energy. Coaker’s Walk gives you the best sunrise or sunset view in town, and it’s an easy stroll, so it works for older members of the group.
Pillar Rocks and Guna Caves sit close by and are worth a half-day between them. Bryant Park is a good slow stop if your group prefers gardens to adventure, and the pine forest on the way to Berijam Lake is where most of the groups end up taking their best photos of the whole trip.
Cumbum is the part that surprises people. It is about 90 minutes from Kodaikanal, down toward Theni, and it’s known for its grape and mango farms. Walking through a working farm, talking to the farmer, and tasting grapes straight off the vine – it’s a completely different experience from hill station sightseeing, and groups genuinely enjoy it. On the way, Ramakkalmedu is worth the stop too, a windmill point with sweeping views across the Western Ghats.
The best time to go is October through early June. Kodaikanal gets proper monsoon rain from June to September, which is lovely if your group likes rain and mist, but it works against you if the plan involves long outdoor walks and clear photos.
What a Typical Package Looks Like
A comfortable Kodaikanal Cumbum group tour is usually planned as a 3-day or 4-day trip, depending on where your group starts in Kerala and how much sightseeing you want to include. Groups travelling from Kochi, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Palakkad, or other parts of Kerala can have the route adjusted according to their starting point.
A standard itinerary starts with departure from Kerala and arrival in Kodaikanal on day one, with check-in followed by an easy evening at Kodai Lake and Bryant Park. Day two is a full day of Kodaikanal sightseeing, covering Coaker’s Walk, Pillar Rocks, Guna Caves, and the pine forest. Day three heads out toward Cumbum via Ramakkalmedu, with time at a grape farm and lunch before the drive back to Kerala.
A 4-day itinerary gives the group more breathing room. Instead of rushing from one attraction to another, you can spend more time in Kodaikanal, add a Cumbum Valley experience, or include stops based on the interests of your group.
Your package includes all transport, sightseeing, entry fees, and comfortable hotel stays with breakfast and dinner. You will also be accompanied by an experienced driver-cum-guide who knows the roads and stops perfectly. We keep the itinerary flexible, so if your group wants an extra night, a different hotel category, or another swapped-in stop like Munnar or Vagamon, we adjust the plan around that.
Group size isn’t really a constraint on our end. We’ve handled groups of all sizes, from small friend groups to groups of a hundred and more on a single shared itinerary. Budget works the same way – tell us what you’re comfortable spending, and we’ll build the package around that rather than handing you a fixed price and asking you to make it work.
Why Plan This Through Us
We’re a Kochi-based group travel agency, and group travel is genuinely all we plan. A group of thirty people with three different age groups and five different food preferences needs a different kind of planning than a couple booking a weekend away.
That is where a group travel specialist can make the difference. Hotel room requirements, vehicle capacity, meal timings, sightseeing schedules, and travel time all need to work together.
My Travel Club focuses on customized group travel in Kerala and South India. We do not believe that every group should receive the same itinerary because they are visiting the same destination.
We can build the Kodaikanal Cumbum trip around your group size, budget, preferred hotel category, vehicle requirement, and travel dates. If your group wants more sightseeing, we can plan for it. If you prefer a slower trip with more time to relax, the schedule can be adjusted accordingly.
We know the route and the stay options between Kerala and Kodaikanal well enough to avoid the usual last-minute surprises like a bad hotel, an unreliable driver, and a sightseeing spot that turns out to be closed that day. And we handle the coordination end to end, so you’re not the one making fifteen calls about pickup times the night before departure.
